Igbo ‘tribeswomen’ and placenta reverence

So I saw this in the afternoon (when I was supposed to be working, never you mind) and after rolling my eyes, I thought I should ask. I don’t know everything after all.

According to this episode of Criminal Minds, Igbo tribeswomen believe that the placenta is the child’s dead twin (in the womb naturally) and revere it as such.

Biko, does this happen in your village? Enquiring minds want to know.

  1. I’ve never heard of this before. I went to my trusty sidekick google and the only thing i could come up with was written by Oyinbos, not cosigned by any Igbo people and literally all quoted the exact same article so idk lol.

  2. When did Igbo people start revering twins? All over the internet, white people write all sorts of things that make an Igbo man wonder if there is another “ibo tribe” in Europe or Australia.
